Hospice of West Alabama (HOWA) continues to grow and strengthen the services we provide to the community, among which is the Pat Faucett Bereavement Program. This program offers comprehensive bereavement counseling and support services provided by a master’s level clinical social worker with additional training in grief counseling. The Pat Faucett Bereavement Program is available to provide grief support to the West Alabama community free of charge, regardless of whether or not their loved one was cared for by HOWA.
We have a full-time bereavement counselor who leads our bereavement program and provides individual, family, and group bereavement counseling to help clients grieve in a healthy manner following the death of a loved one. The bereavement counselor works closely with healthcare providers, social workers, clergy, and school guidance counselors. To schedule an appointment please call (205) 523-0101.
HOWA offers several bereavement support groups which are held each month. Time and location details are available on our Upcoming Events Calendar.
HOWA is proud to be one of the few hospices with a full-time bereavement counselor on staff who is available for individual and family support.
The Candlelight Memorial Service is a non-denominational service held annually to remember those in our community who have passed within the year. Each service features special music, inspirational thoughts and readings, and a special lighting of a candle by those in attendance in memory of someone who has died.
